Radio is gone. I decided to prioritize and shoutcast radio is marginally more difficult to keep running, so I just killed it off. In place, I give you guest access to my Subsonic server which gives you on demand access to nearly my entire music library.
How does it work?
You navigate to http://subsonic.staires.org.
Log in with these guest credentials which’ll let you listen but limited to 64kbps (radio?) quality:
User: guest
Password: guest
From there on you should be able to figure out what to do,.
Pro-Tips
1.) Next to the player there’s a drop down that says “More actions…”, open it and click “Load”, it’ll load up all of the playlists available on the site and a couple extras.
2.) The home screen shows you random albums by default, but you can also have it show you the Newest albums, as well as what has been listened to the most and listened to recently. Good way to discover music.
3.) Subsonic has clients for iPhone and Android, and this will work with those clients, so you can even carry my library around with you. There’s an Adobe Air app called SubAir and it’s a nice interface but doesn’t offer any benefits over just running it in the browser.
5.) If you email me and ask, I’ll make you a personal account limited to 128kbps (near cd-quality) which’ll scrobble to Last.FM if you want it to. Anyone who asks will get an account, though I might ask a question or two just for fun.
5.) If you want to put up your own Subsonic server, check out this Quick & Dirty Guide to Subsonic that I wrote.
